13-year-old madam accused of persuading classmates into prostitution

A 13-year old girl has been detained by law enforcement for her involvement in a Dallas, TX prostitution ring. Allegedly, she coerced a classmate to participate in commercialized sex acts in a nearby night club. The journalistic spin on this event seems to place blame on the young girl, with this video from ABC news providing a seemingly accusatory viewpoint in regards to this young girl's involvement with the prostitution ring. The question must be asked, "What 13-year-old has the skills and savvy to lead her friends into such a lucrative and dangerous industry if she was not taught those manipulative skills by an adult more fluent in the business?" Unfortunately, once a victim is manipulated into victimizing others, she somehow loses her status as 'exploited' and becomes the enemy. This societal viewpoint must be re-examined if we ever want to get to the root issue of sexual exploitation.
