Not For Sale is pleased to announce the FIRST mobile version of The Abolitionist Academy happening next month in Norcross, Georgia (just outside of Atlanta).

The Atlanta Abolitionist Academy will run Monday, November, 9th - Saturday, November 14th, 2009 and will be the first of a new wave of Abolitionist Academies running outside of San Francisco, CA.

The Abolitionist Academy Atlanta is an intensive one-week training (approximately 50 hours) for individuals who have a desire to become "Backyard Abolitionists". Attendees will gain in-depth knowledge about the many types of human trafficking in the South East Region of the United States and beyond. You will learn how to properly record, document, and map cases of modern-day slavery. Through hands on training and sessions with experts in the field attendees will learn how to identify probable cases of human trafficking, how to properly record and document potential locations, and how to liaison and work with potential partners such as law enforcement, service providers, legal teams, and more.

* Gain in depth knowledge about the various forms of involuntary servitude in the South East Region of the United States (such as, but not limited to, factory, agricultural, debt bondage, and sex trafficking).
* Learn how to document cases and map human trafficking in the South East Region of the United States.
* Document cases internationally using Not For Sale's mapping technologies.

Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis: seats are limited.

Location:

The Academy will be held in Norcross, Georgia.

Mapping Cases Abroad:

Participants who complete the training and are certified will have an opportunity to document cases at one of Not For Sale Campaign's international projects in Thailand, Peru, Ghana or Uganda. Attendees must pay their own way to the Not For Sale international site. If interested, please mention in your email to theacademy@notforsalecampaign.org.

Academy Dates:

Monday, November 9th - Saturday, November 14th, 2009 (arrival on Sunday, November 8th and departure on the afternoon of Saturday, November 15th)

Accommodation:

Days Inn, located less than one mile from the training facility ($39/night (not including tax). Other accommodation locations are pending. If you are in need of housing please inform us in your email to theacademy@notforsalecampaign.org.

Interstate 355 is an Interstate Highway and tollway in the western and southwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, U.S. Like most other miami hotel tollways in the northeastern portion of the state, I-355 is maintained by the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority. I-355 runs from Interstate 80 in New Lenox north to Interstate 290 in Itasca, a distance of 32.5 miles (52.3 km).
